The Salazar Brothers Reggaeton ReFill

Propellerhead Software have joined forces with three time Grammy winners, The Salazar Brothers, for their latest Reason ReFill, Reggaeton, which we ran a story on from the Winter NAMM show. They have now been in touch to announce the price of the Refill and that it is available from their online shop.

The Reggaeton ReFill is over 360 megabytes of samples, loops and comes with 220 Drum & Percussion REX files, 75 NN-XT sampler patches in categories like Drums, FX, Stabs, Vinyl FX , Vocals and more including MIDI files and 20 song starter demo tracks. It is a great toolbox for Reason users looking for that Reggaeton sound.

If you haven't begun making your own REX files, the beginning of this program demonstrates why REX files are central to any Reason workflow!

After learning the secrets of making your own REX files, you'll move on to explore all of Reason's Built-in digital signal processing (DSP) effects. More than just a quick tour, this tutorial shows you the how AND why of using DSP effects. For example, you'll learn now dynamic range compression works, and also see when you should apply it to beats, guitar, and other sounds to make them cut cleanly through your mix.

Reason Electric Bass Refill

Propellerhead Software is now shipping the Reason Electric Bass ReFill (Mac/Win) for Reason, the company's music production system.

Reason Electric Bass includes numerous Combinator patches for Reason 4, along with samples of eight classic electric bass guitars: the Fender Jazz Bass, the Fender Precision Bass (flatwound), the Gibson Les Paul, the Rickenbacker 4001, the Gibson EB-0, the Kay Hollowbody, the MusicMan Stingray Fretless, and the Fender Precision Bass (roundwound). Each patch contains performance embellishments, such as release samples, hammer-ons, and glissandos, for an organic-sounding bass instrument. All instruments were captured using the company's Hypersampling method, at multiple Velocity levels using both direct inputs and multiple sets of microphones through two different bass rigs.

This ReFill ships on two DVDs, both with 16-bit and 24-bit versions of the sound library. According to the manufacturer, the 16-bit version is lighter on the CPU and is ideal for composing and production work, while the 24-bit version is appropriate for final mixing.
